North Carolina is not shy about showing off its lakes and state and county parks. The state makes a point to preserve its naturally beautiful areas, yet another draw for people looking to relocate here!
There are several gorgeous lakes in the Research Triangle area and within driving distance, including B. Everett Jordan Lake (off of US 64 between Raleigh and Pittsboro), Falls Lake (northwest of Raleigh), Lake Gaston (Borders two counties in Virginia and Warren, Halifax & Northampton Counties in N.C.), Kerr Lake State Recreation Area (stretches along the N.C. and Virginia border), Lake Benson Park (Garner) and Lake Wheeler (south of Raleigh). Harris Lake in New Hill is great, too, although some shy away from it due to the power plant.
The lakes draw daily visitors, campers, water sports enthusiasts, investors and residents! There’s something about waking up to the water lapping on the beach or a vivid orange and red sunrise on the lake. That something makes lake-area land a hot commodity in real estate.
