Meredith College was started in 1891. Today Meredith College is an independent private women's college—one of the largest in the United States.
Meredith College offers a comprehensive education with an emphasis on an innovative liberal arts curriculum.
At the undergraduate level, Meredith offers 50 programs of study. Each major is grounded in a new general education curriculum that emphasizes interdisciplinary study, experiential learning and global awareness. The Meredith academic experience is enhanced by a series of initiatives that offer a bold vision for the future. The Meredith Technology Initiative provides every full-time undergraduate student with a laptop and enhances the use of technology across the curriculum. The Science and Mathematics Initiative features extensive new facilities and programs. The Undergraduate Research Program encourages student-faculty research in every discipline. The Service Learning and Leadership Initiatives expand our longtime commitment to community service and stewardship.
The Meredith community is diverse, spirited and culturally engaged. Campus life is shaped by more than 2,100 students from 28 states and 15 foreign countries. Students advance their leadership skills by participating in more than 100 clubs and organizations, playing NCAA Division III sports, producing campus-wide events, taking leadership roles in the community and joining in college traditions.
Meredith's wooded, 225-acre campus is set on the western edge of Raleigh, North Carolina's capital city, minutes away from Research Triangle Park, the country's premier research and development hub. Our facilities include a new state-of-the-art Science and Mathematics Building, several newly renovated academic and residence hall buildings, and the Carlyle Campbell Library.
